- All your culinary needs can be met in the cook's kitchen with its abundant counter space, up-to-date appliances and utensils. The dining room with atrium-like ambiance seats 8 people. The garden setting is private, peaceful and exotic.
- This Kauai home offers: A perfect setup for multi-generational families vacationing together.
- Mala Pua- the "garden" master suite is on the main level with a king bed and daybed, TV and DVD player. The spacious bathroom with a walk-in tiled shower offers lush garden views.
- Kumulani- (base of sky) is the vaulted upstairs master suite that captures majestic mountain views. It features a king bed, TV and DVD player, bath with tiled shower.
- The Hula Room features a double bed with a whimsical hula décor theme.
- The Blue Room is equipped with 3 twin beds. Two can be converted into a king size bed to meet your needs.

Pack up the beach equipment including mats, chairs, cooler, sand toys and have a great day at the beach. Poipu Beach Park offers a large grassy area dotted with swaying coco palms. There are picnic tables, play equipment, showers, restrooms, even a convenience store and restaurant across the street.
FITNESS CLUB Included - Family fun activity center
Included with your reservation at no extra cost you now have the privilege of using a nearby family fitness facility. The Poipu Beach Athletic Club (PBA Club), less than a mile away, is a wonderful facility for family & friends to be active, have fun and have a meal, too.
CLUB AMENITIES INCLUDE: cardio workout room, weight lifting equipment, exercise room (and classes), poolside table and chaise lounges, restaurant and bar and pool/hot spa with waterslide! Lots of games to play for young and old alike - 4 tennis courts, 3 pickleball courts, basketball, badminton, volley ball, shuffleboard, ping pong, and more lawn games (all equipment provided!!).
OUR RATES & POLICIES: Stated rates are for up to 8 guests.
$800 refundable security deposit (damage/loss) is required; An initial payment of $500 is required to secure the reservation. The full amount plus security deposit is due 60 days prior to arrival.
Our policy will vary with stays longer than 3 weeks.
Our holiday season extends from Dec. 17- Jan. 6 with a one week minimum stay (2 week minimum if the stay includes both holidays). We divide the season into two periods with some flexibility on dates and length of stay. For the first week (Christmas) we ask our guests to arrange their departure date to fall between Dec. 26 and Dec. 28. For the second week (New Year's celebration) we ask guests to arrive around Dec 27-29. This gives the option of 7-10 days for either holiday segment.

KAUAI ACTIVITIES:
GOLF: There are three 18-hole golf courses in Poipu and a community 9 hole course in nearby Kalaheo (several other courses in Princeville, Lihue, and Kapa'a).
Kauai Beaches: Poipu Kai resort fronts on two well known beaches... Shipwreck Beach and Brennecke Beach, each an excellent bodysurfing beach. Next to Brennecke beach is Poipu Beach Park, rated the best beach in North America for four years running. It features a sheltered "baby beach" for toddlers and parents, a fully equipped children's playground, and a great snorkeling and swimming beach with every variety of tropical fish usually only seen in aquariums. Surfing is also an excellent option at Poipu Beach with a surf shop and board rentals just across the street from the beach.
Kauai Golfing: There are three championship 18-hole courses available near the resort: The Kiahuna Golf Course, the prestigious Poipu Bay Resort Course, and the Kukuiula Course. Kukuiolono is a wonderful park with a community 9 hole course in nearby Kalaheo (very affordable). Guests need to arrange with the individual courses for tee times. Within driving distance are several other courses in Princefille, Kalaheo, and Kapa'a.
Kauai Restaurants: Brennecke's restaurant is a great place for lunch or dinner at the beach; good burgers, fish and drinks. Don't forget Lapperts' ice cream for a real treat. It's fresh made in Hanapepe and definitely a landmark destination. They are located throughout the island: Poipu (just a couple of miles from the house), Kalaheo, and Kapa'a, etc.
When you want to get dressed up and go to a really nice restaurant there are three to choose from at the Hyatt resort that are definitely world class. It's just East down Poipu Rd. about 3/4 of a mile from the house. Incidentally getting dressed up in Kauai for a guy entails a nice pair of shorts and a breezy Hawaiian shirt and sandals. The ladies usually wear something slinky and cool with heels. Get her a nice lei for the occasion (Star Market or in Koloa at the Big Save). We really enjoy the Hyatt's Ilima Terrace restaurant (especially Sunday brunch), as well as Tide Pools (Seafood). They also have a wonderful island Luau once a week complete with Hawaiian entertainment. After dinner take a slow stroll around the grounds. The Hyatt continually gets awards for the beauty of its resort. The ladies may want to take advantage of the Anara Spa. It's open to the public and they offer wonderful massages, facials, exercise classes, etc.
Island activities: For the shoppers there are some very nice boutiques in the Poipu Village shopping center just West on Poipu Road and also in the new Kukui'ula Village at the roundabout on Poipu Road. There are also boutique shops at the surrounding resorts, e.g., Hyatt, Sheraton and the Marriott. Food shopping is nearby at the Big Save supermarket in Koloa, just a couple of miles up the bypass road. If you are energetic and want some exercise Kauai offers a great series of hikes and drives, some with breathtaking views. Try the hike along the beach and cliffs east past the Hyatt. It is about 4 miles and the reward is a wonderful white sand beach. There is a spectacular hike/drive up the Waimea Canyon (the grand canyon of the Pacific). At the end of the road hike the trail about 4 miles which will take you to a lookout over the Na Pali Coast. Also refer to the Kauai Guide Book located in the house for more fun things to do.

Poipu Beach offers a sheltered cove called "Baby Beach" where toddlers play in the sand and splash in the shallow waters. A few steps away in the clear warm water, colorful tropical fish swim beneath as you just feet from the shore. The calm waters and gentle waves are enjoyed by swimmers of all capabilities. Experienced surfers can catch large-breaking waves further out beyond the reef. Brennecke Beach, at the east end of the park, is renowned for body surfing and boogie boarding.
If you bring your camera you may be able to capture on film a Monk Seal sleeping off a meal on the beach. Seals are protected so don't approach too closely.
Within a 2 mile radius of the house you will find two golf courses, some of Kauai's finest restaurants and charming island boutiques. When you venture beyond Poipu you will find a virtual paradise of activities: helicopter tours, horseback riding, river and ocean kayaking, whale-watching, botanical garden tours and much more, including the spectacular NaPali Coast and the Waimea Canyon (Grand Canyon of the Pacific).

Perfection in Paradise
This had to be the Best VRBO we have ever experienced and we have stayed in many. There were seven in our party three couples and one single. We utilized all four bedrooms and we found the sleeping accommodations excellent. The beds were top notch, good ventilation and amazing views and outdoor ambiance. There was nothing to want for. This home was not only lovely but was also so well equipped in every way. All you needed were groceries and personal items. The icing on the cake was a 15 minute walk to the beach and the same to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Fine and casual dining a short drive or walk away. Shopping also a short drive away. Last but not least our hosts Jim and Juliana were lovely accommodating individuals. We all agreed this was one of our best decision's and trips we have had. Dan K

Our multigenerational family had a great time at this house
Our multigenerational family had a great time at this house. There was ample room for everyone and extra privacy for one couple in the upstairs suite. We enjoyed the outdoor dining table during the day and the dining room at night and had lots of surfaces left over to have multiple board games going. Say hi to the owners when you're there. They're a nice couple!

The accommodations were perfect for a large family with diverse needs: a young married couple with a 4 month baby, a grandparent with mobility challenges, a 10 year old active boy, and a retired married couple who enjoyed the privacy of our love nest in the sky.
We also enjoyed meeting you both, and talking with someone who was in the same line of work as our son-in-law: construction.
The kitchen served well our needs to cook most of our meals, and the outdoor eating area in the front was great for a large family.

Perfect for our group of eight

This home was perfect for our group of eight - two families with a total of 5 adults and 3 teens. The beach is only a 10-12 minute walk from the house. Both sets of parents enjoyed a master bedroom/bath, and there was plenty of room for all eight of us. The kitchen was well-appointed, and we appreciated the ice maker plus 6+ ice cube trays ready to go for filling our water bottles for the day's adventures. We also enjoyed the stash of beach towels and boogie boards in the garage. The complimentary membership to the Poipu Athletic Club was a huge amenity - it's a 20-minute walk / 5-minute drive from the house. The club has a swimming pool with water slide, open-air weight room and cardio workout rooms, tennis/pickleball/basketball courts, modern shower/bathroom building and bar/grill on the premises. The bar and grill was a bit pricey, so we had most of our dinners at the house. If your departure flight is later in the day, the Poipu Athletic Club offers a Departure Pass that is a real lifesaver! For $40 a family, they will securely store all your luggage for the day (pick-up before they close at 8 p.m.), and you will have access to everything at the Club (you can take that post-beach shower before your flight!) for that day. Jim and Juliana were very responsive to any questions we had both before and during our stay. They kept us appraised of the COVID requirements and emailed us detailed information on everything from grocery shopping to recommendations on places to visit / things to do during our time in Kauai. "We had a great time at this house. Only about 20 minutes from the Airport and Very close to the beach to walk or even do some shopping. There were 7 of us and plenty of beds and space. Jim was very accommodating and easy to get a hold of for questions and when we had an issue come up they were right on top of it! They had everything we needed for the beach, mats, chairs, umbrellas, beach towels etc. We also loved the beach club for a break from the beach! If you are looking for a place to stay in Poipu, look no further! This home is in a great location and is incredibly spacious and well equipped with all of your needs! Jim and Juliana were wonderful to work with; from the booking process to questions about what beaches to visit. They have tons of beach chairs, towels and toys and their kitchen had everything you could possibly need. There was nothing better than drinking coffee on the front porch in the morning and watching the birds eat papayas off the trees. Truly a great place to stay. We had 9 people (4 adults and 5 kids) and we had plenty of room for everyone. I would definitely recommend this house!

This is a great place for big groups/families. Lots of very comfortable living area. Great kitchen with ample workspace. Listing doesn't mention that the owners live in attached suite, however this was not a problem as they are very friendly and were accommodating to our special needs. The pool/fitness club is great and the kids really enjoyed the waterslide. It is not in walking distance for small children but only a two minute drive. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

We regularly did yoga classes in the morning and also used the pool. The bedrooms were all well equipped, clean and comfortable. We were a group of 4 females so the four bedrooms and 3 bathrooms were perfect. The kitchen was very well equipped. We also had use of the laundry which was very convenient. We would recommend hiring a car though as the island is beautiful and you will want to drive around quite a bit. The house was everything it was advertised to be and more. The Cherry's are great people. They're thoughtful, kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. The property is perfectly located to all the things we wanted to do. Access to the fitness club and its many amenities was a hit with our younger children, ages 8, 6, and 3. Especially the water slide. The outside table and the grill was a perfect gathering place for a meal and conversation of the day. The house is well stocked with the necessities. We were there for 9 days so we had to get more of certain items, but that was expected and not a big deal. The kitchen is well stocked with all the necessary cooking utensils and very functional. We especially liked having access to a washer and dryer. That allowed us to pack less items and keep the items we brought clean. There is plenty of beach towels provided as well as chairs, coolers, sand toys for our 3 year old, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, and all kinds of beach stuff.
The entire experience was great. From the initial booking, communication with the owners, follow up questions answered in a timely manner, all the way through driving directions to the property.
We could not have chose a better home away from home. The property and its owners made our long awaited family vacation to Kauai a success.

This was the third time in the past several years that we've had our family join us at Ala Muku for a week on Kauai. This lovely home is well loved and cared for by Jim & Juliana Cherry. They make us feel so welcome each time we come and we appreciate knowing that they aren't far away if we have a question or suggestion. The home is spacious - plenty of room for the 8 of us and would comfortably fit even more visitors. There are four bedrooms including our favorite - the master suite!
The kitchen is well stocked with pretty much every kitchen gadget that you might need and the dining room has plenty of room for everyone. They have a nice library of paperback books and plenty of games to play at the table. They also have beach towels for everyone and an assortment of snorkel gear, beach mats, boogie boards, beach toys and picnic cooler. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood about a half mile away from Poipu Beach. It's a nice walk if you are so inclined, or a short drive if you want to want to load up the kids and their toys to go play at the beach.
This is a great place for a small family reunion, or just a treat for the kids and grandkids! We truly feel like we're coming home each time we visit! Mahalo!

Or stay in this home was absolutely perfect. Jim and his wife were very helpful and friendly. They made the home very welcoming for us after traveling all day. We loved the Hawaiian decor it had. The house is equipped with everything that you need in perfect condition. The quality of the furniture and carpet along with its amenities were just like being at home. The bed's were comfortable for us and we absolutely enjoyed the recreational equipment that was in the garage for us to use. For example boogie boards, ice chest, beach chairs, and beach towels along with some snorkeling gear. Kitchen was very easy to use but I would recommend a better set of steak knives. The home inside and out was perfect. The owners brought us several mangoes from their tree almost daily and we enjoyed them very much. The home does not have air conditioning but it had a nice breeze throughout the day. It's location was perfect and very close to the beach and shops. The neighborhood was friendly and quiet. There was plenty of storage for us to utilize. The home was equipped with dishes and even hangers in the closet for us to hang our clothes. There was even games and movies for us to watch and relax. I quite enjoyed having to coffee pot maker's although one didn't seem to work that well sometimes. The Wi-Fi was easy to set up and it came equipped with a book of information on the home and location of several hotspots and attractions that we helped ourselves too. Overall I would definitely rent this home again. Thank you so much for a fantastic home away from home!

This is a lovely condo. It was well stocked with what we needed during our stay. A short walk to the beach, an ocean view from the lanai, a back deck, a pool on the grounds and a 15 minute walk over to the Grand Hyatt for our conference. The hosts were great with communicating with us before our stay, sending instructions and directions, which made everything easy. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend you stay here, too!

This house fit all of our needs.
We enjoyed our stay at the Muku house with easy access to Poipu Beach, sunsets, sea turtles, & restaurants. There were enough cooking utensils for all meals plus a great bbq grill. Cooler, chairs, towels, & snorkels were great for day trips around Kauai. The house was roomy enough for all including a raised outdoor deck. Hope to visit again! - (Jan 2018)

this house is comfortable, well stocked, located in a quiet neighborhood and has plenty of room for a large group. we enjoyed being on the sunny south end of the island and the proximity to Poipu beaches. Access to the Poipu Pool and Athletic club was a bonus! - (Jan 2018)
